11.1: Film Script - Little Miss Sunshine

Style - The style of the script is quite detailed in terms of character description and stage directions for the opening of the film. Probably because they want to introduce the characters according to the strongest points of their personality. There's a lot of dialogue as this film relies a lot of the characters interacting with each other to tell the story.

Content - The content of the script is basically showing a struggling family trying to get to a beauty contest on the other side of America. They encounter a number of problems on the trip but which they have to solve The clashing personalities of the characters adds to the comedy as they try to get to their destination.

Narrative Structure - The opening of the film is focused on introducing the key characters and their backgrounds/interests. We first see them all together at a family dinner where their problems and clashing personalities become obvious. From this scene the film is set on the road as they try to get the the beauty contest encountering.

Genre - The genre of this film is comedy. They use elements of quite dark comedy such as the subject of Frank's suicide attempt and the Grandpa's death. However most of the film is light comedy which I think a large market of people can find funny.

Target Audience - The film is rated 15 in the UK but I it's main target audience would be from about 15-40. Due to the age range of characters and the difference in their personalities I think a theres something in the film that people of all genders can enjoy.
