11.1: Radio Script - Hangdog

An extract from the script of 'Hangdog' by Cat Jones, a radio drama.

Style - This script has a lot less detail in terms of description than there is in TV/Film scripts. Any description that is in this script are there to show where sound effects will be used. Being a radio script, it relies a lot more on dialogue and sound effects to set and image for the audience.

Content - In this particular scene, the two characters are talking about a prisoner that killed himself, its clear that they both have different opinions on the suicide.

Genre - This is a crime drama

Target Audience - Judging by the

11.1: TV Show script - Game of Thrones

Extract from the screenplay of Chinatown (TOWNE 1974)

Extract from Game of Thrones

Style - Set in a medieval period in a fantasy world.

Content - 3 men of varying ages and status enter a forest to track some people. They find dismembered bodies and are eventually killed by some kind of supernatural being. One survivor deserts his post and is caught by authorities south of the wall. He must be beheaded by the Ned Stark, Ned's 8 year old son must watch the beheading to prove himself as a man.

Narrative Structure - The sequence before the titles sets up some mood and genre for the series. The fact that one ran away from the wall which brings to another setting in the series allowing new and more relevant characters to be introduced in a way that shows the status of each character and a small part of their personalities. The rest of the episode continues form this point.

Genre - Adventure/Drama/Fantasy, set in a medieval period which is made clear by the fact that they are using swords ands riding horses for transport. There are also supernatural/fantasy elements of the series like the white walkers and dire wolves which are obviously not real.

Target Audience - Rated 15 by the BBFC. I think it is mainly aimed at a younger audience of mainly males due to the ages and gender of the characters and the content. For example there is quite a bit of gore which is stereotypically attracts more males.
